Extensions don’t have a natural supply of nutrients and oils like your own hair, so they need extra attention to maintain their condition. Blondes, in particular, require more upkeep as they go through an extended colouring process to achieve their gorgeous tones.
Applying too much shampoo can strip hair of moisture, much like excessive cleansing affects the skin. A small amount is all that’s needed to refresh the hair, and apply conditioner generously while avoiding the roots.
Just like your natural hair, you need to make sure you’re protecting your hair extensions from heat damage when styling. Using too much heat can lead to breakage as your extensions do not get the same supply of natural nutrients and oils as your own hair. Always apply heat protectant such as a Silicone Spritz, and keep the temperature below 180°C (350°F) to avoid damaging the extensions.
Gently brush your extensions with a loop brush or wide-tooth comb, starting from the ends and working your way up to prevent tangles.
