To give you ultimate hair inspo, we’ve started a ‘Celebrity Hair History’ series here on the Milk + Blush blog. In Celebrity Hair History, we’re taking a look back at some iconic hairstyles through the years and tracing the hair evolution of some of our fave stars and celebs to where they are today.
This month we’re taking a look back at the major hair changes made by Angelina Jolie whose insanely gorgeous bone structure could pull of any look. We’re actually pretty shocked at how many trends this lady has started though. From slicked back, wet look hair to a blunt bob and faux dreads, Angelina was cool before you were even born...
1991
Angelina is 17 years old here and completely skipping the awkward teenage stage. This portrait was by Robert Kim and around this time she was starring in music videos like Antonello Venditti's "Alta Marea" to try and kick start her career.
1995
At 21 Angelina starred in the film Hackers and chopped off all her hair for the role. This pixie is amazing at showing off her killer bone structure though.
1997
With her then husband Jonny Lee Miller, Angelina was halfway to growing out her pixie and sporting shoulder length, dark brown hair. This look is totally back today and was perfect for her grungey vibe during the 90s.
1998
This year Angelina won an Emmy for best supporting actress for her role in the TV series George Wallace and chopped her hair super short once again. We’re obsessed with the wet look but not so much the blue eyeshadow.
1999
In one of her most iconic roles Angelina went dirty blonde in 1999 to play Lisa Rowe in Girl Interrupted.
2000
For the film Gone In 60 Seconds she rocked these platinum blonde, faux dreads. Starting trends way before her time we actually re-created this look for Coachella this year,

2000
At the Academy Awards in 2000 Angelina picked up another trophy for her role in Girl Interrupted. She went for these super long, jet black hair extensions and kept her hair super sleek and straight like a chic Morticia Adams.
2001
This was the year she totally fixed us up with the sexiest Halloween costume EVER as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider. These dutch braids are still the coolest hairstyle and we love the 90s, skinny strands left out at the front.
2004
At the Women In Hollywood event she rocked slightly lighter, auburn toned curls that looked amazing with her tan and coral lip shade.
2005
At the LA Premiere of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" she wore her hair slicked back in a natural shade of chocolate brown. Again a huge trend this season so

2008
For the movie Changeling Angelina went for this gorgeous 1920s style bob in a warm brown. We love this shorter cut on her and that super cute hat.
2010
She cut these gorgeous bangs for her film Salt and debuted this side swept style for the London premier. The lighter highlights really suit her and the layers help to add lots of volume to her hair.
2014
At the premier of our new fave Disney movie Maleficent she rocked this gorgeous high pony. It doesn’t look like there’s any extensions in there either, just her gorgeous, natural locks.
2017
This is the year Brangelina became Brad and Angelina once again and totally broke our heart. It figures that this wouldn’t be the best time for a major hair shake up but we’re loving this blunt cut and dark brown colour on her.
2018
At the Golden Globes this year, Angelina’s hair was super dark and swept back into this gorgeous, low, textured bun. We love the loose strands around the front and the undone feel of this look, so sophisticated.
