Shampoo
Splurge: Philip Kingsley Body Building Shampoo £19 Save: Pantene Pro-V Shampoo Volume & Body £1.99 We thought we would kick off this post with the basic and what’s more basic than your everyday shampoo? The Philip Kingsley Body Building Shampoo uses natural cellulose and keratin protein to bulk up your strands and repair any damage caused by heat styling. The weightless formula won’t weight down your strands either so it’s perfect for finer hair types or if you like your hair to be super voluminous. The save version by Pantene is also clinically proven to bulk out your strands and leave your hair looking really shiny so it’s a perfect alternative if Philip Kingsley is out of your price range.
Silver Shampoo
Splurge: Sachajuan Silver Shampoo, £22 Save: PRO:VOKE Touch Of Silver Colour Care Shampoo £4.19 Both of these products deposit a purple pigment into your hair to neutralise brassy tones and keep your blonde fresh. We don’t think it matters which one you choose as toning is more down to technique than it is how much your shampoo costs.
Conditioner
Splurge: Kiehl's Smooth Oil-Infused Conditioner £19.50 Save: Hask Argan Oil Repairing Conditioner £4.66 Using natural oils is a really great way to keep your hair moisturised and prevent split ends. It’s a bit annoying trying to remember to apply it all the time though so finding a shampoo with a natural oil in the ingredients is a really good shout. The Kiehl’s Oil-infused conditioner smoothes down your cuticles with a blend of Argan and Babassu Oils that aren’t too heavy for your strands. If this is way too pricey though check out the Hask Argan Oil Conditioner as it’s also free of parabens and really nourishing for your locks.
Argan Oil
Splurge: Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil £45.00 Save: The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil £5.99 The Oribe Gold Lust is a mix of Argan, Cassis and Bergamot oils that help to protect your hair against damage and stop frizz in its tracks. It’s eye wateringly expensive though so if you just wanted something super simple that will help to give you the same effect check out The Ordinary’s Cold Pressed Argan Oil. It’s not going to be as fancy, or smell as great but it’s essentially a very stripped back version of the Oribe oil that won’t break the bank.
Hair Perfume
Splurge: BYREDO Blanche Hair Perfume £48.00 Save: Herbivore Hair Perfume Mist in Rose £9.14 BYREDO’s packaging was made for Instagram and its minimal perfume bottles are a staple on our fave bloggers’ feeds. Their signature scent Blanche is a mix of florals including white rose, neroli and peony with hints of pepper that have been mixed with hair happy ingredients like silicone to smooth out your strands. Herbivore’s Rose Hair Mist is just as beautifully floral though and includes aloe water to gently nourish your hair at the same time without being as harsh.
Scalp Scrub
Splurge: R+CO Crown Scalp Scrub £36.00 Save: Lee Stafford Hair Growth Scalp Scrub £6.74 Scalp scrubs won’t be in everyone’s routine but if you’re prone to dandruff or have an oily scalp then they’re definitely worth trying out. The R+CO Crown Scalp Scrub uses Salicylic Acid to gently cleanse your follicles and Kaolin to remove excess oil and product buildup. This is perfect if you’re struggling to get rid of dandruff as it will give your scalp a really deep clean. The save version is the Lee Stafford Growth Scalp Scrub which uses lemon juice to gently exfoliate your scalp and promote hair growth.
Lightening Spray
Splurge: OUAI Sun Of A Beach Ombré Spray £20 Save: John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Lightening Spray £6.99 Lightening sprays are basically a quick way to brighten up your blonde hair in the sun. The OUAI Ombre Spray is made with lemon, coconut water and pineapple juice to gently lift your highlights and brighten up your blonde. If this is too pricey check out the John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Lightening Spray which is way cheaper. It does however use peroxide to lighten your hair which isn’t as healthy but as long as you’re following up with a mask and not using too much heat it should be totally fine.
